PARALEGAL (Mt. Pleasant-Charleston Area)
Our mid-sized defense firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our busy team in the Charleston office. This position is primarily responsible for handling aspects of case management from beginning to end as well as providing administrative support.
Primary Responsibilities include the following:
- Complex case management to include collection, coordination, organization and management of discovery and significant document productions;
- Database management and maintenance;
- Managing and calendaring of deadlines, depositions, hearings and trials;
- Drafting, proofreading, service, and filing of routine legal documents (answers, discovery responses, motions, subpoenas);
- E-filing legal documents with SC and US District Courts;
- Managing travel logistics for one or more attorneys;
- Handling incoming calls and scheduling appointments;
- Tracking attorney time entry and expense reimbursements;
Qualifications and Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years legal experience preferred;
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to multi-task, effectively set priorities, and manage several projects;
- Professional and articulate written and oral communication skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
- Familiarity with Juris Suite and i-Manage (electronic document management system) a plus;
- Experience with construction defect, product liability, personal injury litigation a plus

ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY – Medical Malpractice (COLUMBIA, SC)
Richardson, Plowden & Robinson, P. A. is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Medical Malpractice Team. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in some or all of the following is preferred: medical malpractice, personal injury, general negligence, and/or insurance defense. Healthcare or science-related degree a plus.
Candidates must be in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. Candidates should possess strong academic credentials, excellent research and writing skills, and have the ability to work independently.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Handling all aspects of insurance defense matters up to and through trial, including discovery, court appearances, depositions/examinations, expert issues, and client management
- Drafting pleadings, motions, discovery and briefs, and required client reports
- Legal research; rendering opinions on liability, damages, and case value
- Communicating with clients and opposing parties to prepare for trial or resolve/settle claims
- Managing a diversified case load from beginning to end
- Working closely with other attorneys at depositions and various court appearances
Skills & Experience:
- JD degree from an accredited law school
- Prefer minimum 3 years of experience with insurance defense; medical malpractice
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
- Ability to prioritize assignments and caseload
- Experience with Westlaw, i-Manage and Juris Suite a plus
